January saw us starting to get into the swing of things again. A little snow saw many of the team in the Beacons, as well as further afield with trips to the Peak District, Cheddar Gorge and Pembrokeshire all squeezed in. New Years day allowed few of us to get out (even if the weather wasn't great in South Wales) but a number were in still Snowdonia and elsewhere where it was a little nicer.

This December didn't see us out and about quite so much. It's our busiest time of the year, so it all hands to the deck and with most Annual Leave used up by now. However, we all still managed to fit something in, and the Christmas period gives us all a few days off where the shop is closed, meaning traditional Boxing Day / New Years Eve/Day walks/swims/runs/paddles are all fitted in.

Our staff members are always out and about, making the most of their time off to go and have fun, using and testing the kit we sell. We're going to try and let you know what we get up to, with regular monthly updates.

In the twilight dawn the morning after the loss of Brisish Summer Time, shop regular Stuart Yendle and Staff Member Elan were the members of #teamupandunder found on Llantwit Major beach, looking across the grey Bristol Channel towrds Devon and Exmoor. Read Stuart Yendle's account of the trip.

Tootega and Up and Under are hosting a try sit on kayaking for FREE day on Saturday 26th April at Cosmeston Lakes Country Park in South Wales.

Werner Powerhouse - Gear Review. I've had these for a few years now and love the power and balance" I have always been a huge fan of Werners. Great looks, durability and performance make them one of the best paddle brands around. I previously owned a pair of cranked Players but after leaving them on a river bank at the end of a trip (doh!) I decided to swap for a river running and creeking orientated paddle.
