Ultra light 3 season down sleeping bag

The 3 season Western Mountaineering Ultralite is as light a sleeping bag as you can get without compromising on those features that make for a comfy night's sleep (see features list below). This bag is part of the Western Mountaineering EXREMELITE range and at only 820g (for the 180cm bag) is ideal for serious backpackers, cycle tourers and any weight/pack size-conscious travellers.

Rated as a 3 season down sleeping bag, the Ultralite is comfort rated down to -7C.  The shoulder, hip and foot girths are approximately 150, 130 and 97cm respectively, so despite this being a light bag it shouldn't feel restrictive for most people.

The continuous baffle construction means that down can be migrated to the top of the bag when it gets cold or underneath when its warmer, also the lack of a side block baffle saves on material and thus weight and bulk.

  • -7 degrees celsius comfort rating
  • 820g in weight
  • Packs to less than 18 x 33cm
  • 450g of realistic 850+ fill power goose down in 180cm bag
  • Full length double ended #5 YKK coil zip for venting
  • Single 3-D draft tube behind zip keeps weight low, and reduces drafts and heat loss
  • Full down filled collar
  • Pertex Quantum shell
  • Lightweight and durable internal netting baffles prevent distortion whilst compressing well.
  • Lightweight stuff sack
  • Cotton storage bag
  • 165cm/5'6" bag: Down Fill weight 425g, total bag weight 790g
  • 180cm/6'0" bag: Down Fill weight 450g, total bag weight 820g

Rob Smith - Offa's Dyke In One Sitting - A new unsupported FKT

I set out from the official start (or end) of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail in Prestatyn with the intention of running (jogging, hiking and a lot of hobbling) – the 177 miles to the other end of the trail at Sedbury Cliffs, just outside Chepstow. I did finally get there, just over 3 days later, setting what is, for now, a fastest known time for a self-supported completion of the trail.
