Caving Helmet Light or LED Lighting for Caves

The Fenix HL55 is a high powered head torch that is highly versatile for a variety of sports. It is very well suited for night time kayaking trips, but it's also a great LED caving headlamp. It features a variety of lighting levels from 10 lumens right up to 900 lumens. To ensure that it performs to the highest levels in the toughest of situations is also incorporates an IPX8 waterproof rating.

Fenix has designed the HL55 around an aluminium body, this is tough, durable and waterproof. Its then features an elasticated head strap. This high powered head torch has two powering options. You can run it on either 2 x CR123A batteries or a single 18650 Li-ion battery. The lighting output for the HL55 ranges from 10 lumens through to 900 lumens. There are then 3 other settings that also cover 55, 165, and 420 lumens. The lumen vs run times specifications are listed below. The performance rates are based around using the HL55 with a 2600mAH 18650 battery. , You may wish to opt for a higher specification battery such as the 3500mAh 18650. This will then enahcne these running times by about 30%.

If you decide to power your HL55 headlamp via a 18650 battery you may also want to consider a Fenix battery charger
