The Kahtoola® Traction System (KTS) fits over all types of footwear including running shoes and other flexible footwear. Quick-release, collapsible straps on toe and heel make them easy to fit.


Weighing only 540g and packing down small the KTS Aluminium crampons are really a revolutionary product. Using 7075 Aircraft Aluminum for lightweight durability they won't take up any space in your pack/bum bag either.

Compared to the Kahtoola KTS Steel this crampon is even lighter but slightly less aggressive and durable. The front points are pretty much vertical and not quite so sharp making it an ideal walking, hiking and running crampon. Once again

  • you don't need to go and buy a stiff winter boot,
  • you don't need to wear a stiff, heavy boot,
  • you don't need to go and buy a boot specific crampon,
  • you don't need to carry a bulky, heavy crampon,

all you need to do is get out and get going on the hill or cross country piste.

KTS crampons fit and work with most footwear from running shoes through approach shoes and walking boots and on to ski and snowboard boots. This is all possible due to the easy to use adjustable click buckled straps and the patented flexible LeafSpring® extender bar.

Whilst the Kahtoola Snow Release Skins will reduce the chance of your KTS steels from balling up with snow and causing unexpected slips and slides.
