Technical ice ace

A new and thoroughly modern design makes the new Apex a perfect tool for ice and mixed winter climbing in anywhere from Norway to Scotland. The shaft has an extreme curve, which provides good hand clearance in bulges in ice and allows a very technical pick angle.

All components are T-rated and are subsequently suitable for belay anchoring.

The grip is insulated and ergonomically shaped for maximum comfort and control. The axes come supplied with highly insulating grip tape to wrap the shaft for daggering.

The axe is highly customisable and comes supplied with pick weights for a heftier feel. There is also an option to fit a larger mountain adze for shovelling large amount of snow on routes. The axes come as standard with the ice pick (still T rated) but there is an option to purchase a mixed conditions pick.

The axes can be used in a traditional leashed manner, but they really excel when used in the modern leashless style or with a Black Diamond Spinner Leash for the best of both worlds.
On top of all this we think they look great!
