The Raptor is a versatile, solidly made mountaineering axe with T rated construction and an aggressive alpine pick.

The aggressive alpine pick allows the tool to deal with couloirs, ridges, icy faces and glacier work yet is still effective with self arrests. It has a weighty swing to deal with ice with ease.

The Raptor has a gentle curving shaft which allows extra clearance whilst swinging and daggering, yet does not hinder hammering, step cutting or plunging.

The combined pick/adze unit (or pick/hammer unit) can be unscrewed from the tool head and so replaced easily if damaged. Indeed the Raptor can be adapted for more technical ice by fitting Fly pick sets which are available separately.

To summarise, the Raptor is a great choice for the alpine mountaineer who requires a tool which is more aggressive than typical alpine axes. For example it would make a great choice when paired with a more technical hammer when tackling steep alpine faces - ascend with two tools when needed and then use the Raptor, possibly in a 55cm length, when descending or traversing easier ground afterwards.
