Belay Karabiner

The Wild Country Ascent HMS Screwgate Karabiner is a highly versatile well weighted beauty of a belay karabiner.

This large belay karabiner is not quite as bulky and heavy (only 74g) as some large scale belay krabs yet isn't small and fiddly like some others. The new styled barrel looks, works and feels great. The metal has been moved around during the hot forging process to make it ergonomic and use a minimum amount of metal without compromising strength or handling. The top section of the Ascent is rounded unlike nearly all of its competitors so it works well for anyone using Munter or Italian Friction Hitches to belay with regularly or in an emergency (even forgotten your belay device and wondered what you should be using instead?).

g, stylish choice. Built for belaying and beyond the ample internals give plenty of room for set ups and the Keylock nose is a super-slick clip.

Shaped to maximise gate open space and optimize loading on tapes or belay loops it’s ergonomic and well thought out. Retaining a round bar at the rope end the smooth surface works well for rigging or with a Munter hitch.

  • 76g
  • Keylock nose
  • Full size
  • Hot forged
  • 12mm round bar at top
  • High strength 7075 extruded thimble
