Mammut Smart 2.0

The Smart 2.0 by Mammut is a belay device with a difference. The Smart 2.0 intuitively grabs the rope and supports the belayer in making a safe catch, making life easier for both the climber and belayer. Used just like a normal tubular belay device, no new fancy techniques are needed to be learned to use the Smart 2.0, just a little bit of practice at first use.

At 80 grams, the Smart 2.0 is one of the lightest assisted braking devices on the market, yet supremely ergonomic and usable.

Compatible with the Smarter insert to make the Smart 2.0 even safer and rigid, making it perfect for inexperienced belayers, or where the climbers’ weight difference may otherwise cause rope slippage.

  • No moving parts
  • 80g
  • Compatible with the Smarter

I did finally get there, just over 3 days later, setting what is, for now, a fastest known time for a self-supported completion of the trail.
