Light insulated jacket

The Arc'teryx Atom SL Hoody is a super light insulated jacket with air-permeable side panels that is designed to keep you just right during the autumn and late spring and makes a great summer emergency layer to take everywhere.

If you love the Arcteryx Atom LT Jacket and Hoody as we know many of our staff and customers do then this is the next obvious choice to complete your perfect outdoor clothing range. The Atom LT has kept you warm through the winter and early spring but now the days are warming up it's just too warm for most of the time and you just don't want to take it off, well rather than wishing that winter would come around again (as if) why not get an Atom SL and still have that lovely comfy feel at other times of the year.

The Arcteryx Atom SL Hoody  provides warmth comparable to a lightweight fleece for much lower weight and bulk and boy does it look good. It is an efficient midlayer for cool conditions and a great standalone when taking a breather on the hill, from climbing and during early morning starts.

The combination of fabrics within the Atom SL is designed to handle subtle climate shifts by effectively managing moisture and providing the right amount of warmth.

The soft, easily compacted and resilient Tyono™ 20 shell is surprisingly strong and provides air permeability and wind resistance, allowing airflow when you're active and cutting windchill at the same time.

The 40g/m² Coreloft™ Compact insulative fill is highly compressible, insulates when damp, permits airflow, and is remarkably lightweight. The insulation is placed in the core where it’s needed whilst the sleeves are lined with a comfortable mesh fabric, and lightweight fleece side panels help provide a great fit, warmth and breathability.

The trim fit means you won't look bulked up and also means the Atom SL sits easily under other layers. The great cut combined with articulated sleeves and gusseted underarms creates fantastic freedom of movement. The helmet compatbile StormHood™ is uninsulated as you'll only really use it to cut out wind or in light rain.

The Atom LS Hoody packs down to the size of a grapefruit, and weighs a mere 261 grams.

What is Coreloft™?

Developed by Arc'teryx, Coreloft™ is a synthetic insulation made of staple fibres in mixed sizes that are crimped to trap air and retain warmth. Available in different thicknesses for end-use performance and comfort.

  • Lightweight and highly compressible
  • Durable and resilient
  • Retains its warmth in humid and wet conditions and dries quickly if wet

Rob Smith - Offa's Dyke In One Sitting - A new unsupported FKT

I set out from the official start (or end) of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail in Prestatyn with the intention of running (jogging, hiking and a lot of hobbling) – the 177 miles to the other end of the trail at Sedbury Cliffs, just outside Chepstow. I did finally get there, just over 3 days later, setting what is, for now, a fastest known time for a self-supported completion of the trail.
