Triglav Lady (Vibra)

This B2 crampon compatible boot ticks all the boxes- warmth, comfort, durability, lightness. At around 1400g per pair, they will perform equally well on rapid icy mountain ascents, scrambles, and long treks.

Mountain Boots are made of synthetic fabrics, leather or plastic and their designs are improving every year. Plastic is still a good choice for winter alpinism and for High Altitude use, but improvements in soles, upper materials and construction mean that today leather boots can be extremely rigid and warm for winter climbing and operating at reasonable altitudes whilst remaining light in weight. Our range of High Altitude Mountain Boots can be found in the Expedition section.

In the Mountain Boot section you'll find synthetic and leather boots appropriate for Alpine and Scottish winter climbing, via ferrata and lower altitude mountaineering. Some of the items on the Walking Boots page may also be of interest for scrambling and winter mountain use, especially the B1 flex rated Scarpa SL.

The latest ideas of combining the modern leather boot with a technical climbing last means that the mountaineer can get the comfort, warmth, lightweight, durability, and stability required for snow and ice work and yet have the precision and fit required for high level rock moves.

With so many different boots available due to the many different types of mountaineering being undertaken throughout the world, it is important to choose the boot that it right for your needs.

There are 4 categories that generally cover most scenarios:

    1. High Altitude and Alpine Winter. Take a look at our range of High Altitude Mountain Boots.

    2. Technical Ice, Mixed and Alpine. You might do well to look at Scarpa's Freney XT GTX, or Boreal Ice Master, and La Sportiva's Nepal Evo GTX as possible options.

For more diffcult technical ice and mixed climbing most people will prefer boots with a B3 flex, i.e. boots which barely bend, as this gives the foot more support and less strain on calf muscles.

Suitable crampons: B3 Flex boots such as these can accept C3 and C2 rated crampons. Please look at the compatability advice in our Crampon section.

    3. Alpine Rock and Scrambling. You might do well to look at Scarpa's Manta M4, or Charmoz, and La Sportiva's Trango S Evo as possible options.

The Charmoz and Trango S Evo in particular are very light and so worthy for consideration for scrambling and Via Ferrata adventures allowing you to wear one item of footwear for the whole day. Being light they will not be as durable as heavier models but they are certainly built for speed. Great for rock routes with some snow as long as it's not too cold!

Suitable crampons: B2 Flex boots such as these can accept C2 and C1 rated crampons. Please look at the compatability advice in our Crampon section.

    4. Winter and Glacier Walking and low grade routes. If you are starting your winter climbing adventures you might do well to look at theScarpa's Manta M4. and Boreal Triglav Lady

The B2 flex on these boots is fine for non-technical ice and makes long walk-ins comfortable. So they are ideal for easy 4000m peaks in the Alps, glacier routes and Scottish grade 1 to 3 routes.

Suitable crampons: B2 Flex boots such as these can accept C2 and C1 rated crampons. Please look at the compatability advice in our Crampon section.
