We stock digital mapping packages from Memory-Map. (These will come in either CD Rom or DVD format depending on stored data size.)

There are various options:

• At 1:50,000 scale, all of the Great Britain National Parks are covered in one title at a very low price. This is an inexpensive way to get into digital mapping! See the titles available.
• At 1:25,000 mapping scale you can purchase a titles which give seamless mapping of each of the English and Welsh National Parks and includes aerial photographs for them. There are also Scottish Munro Explorer CD Roms which lack aerial photos, but are less expensive. This is the Ordnance Survey Explorer map information.
• At 1:50,000 mapping scale you can purchase 6 individual titles or regions as shown in the picture below which give seamless mapping of Great Britain, ie Wales, Scotland and England. Each of these titles can include aerial photography (the Premium Edition) or not (the Standard Edition). So for example region 3 covers all of Wales! This is the Ordnance Survey Landranger map information.
• At 1:50,000 scale, 3 of the 6 regions are combined and available in 1 of 3 titles: Great Britain South (1,2,3), Great Britain North (4,5,6) and Great Britain Central (2,3,4). Once again these combined titles are available with or without aerial photography.  
• At 1:50,000 scale, the whole Of Great Britain is available in one title. This combined title is available with or without aerial photography. 

What can Memory Map digital mapping do for you?

Version 5 Memory Map software gives you lots of features on your PC:

• Create routes on your PC or laptop screen.
• Obtain information on the route: distance, elapsed time and cumulative ascent, descent.
• Create routecards from these routes.
• Print map sections out at various scales, with or without relief shading, onto standard paper or Toughprint waterproof paper.
• 3D Fly-throughs along the route. (or 3D views of the map section shown on the screen at the time)
• Download routes to a GPS.
• Upload to a PC a tracklog of your travels created in the GPS unit.
• Show mapping and aerial photography simultaneously on the screen on adjacent tiles.

There are two mapping systems available from Garmin. One is Topo which has been around for a few years and the other is GB Discoverer which is true Ordnance Survey mapping. These both appear on screens of appropriate mapping GPS units.

Garmin GB Discoverer 

There are now a variety of titles as explained below:

• Compatibility. These work with the Oregon series, the Dakota series and older designs such as the Colorado 300. They will not work on mapping GPS such as Venture HC or Vista HCX. (Topo will work on these. See Garmin Topo section below)
  
• True Ordnance Survey mapping on micro SD cards. Simply locate the chosen card into place in the battery compartment and then you're running!

• National ParksThere is a separate title for each National Park, each having the 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 mapping on board. These are the Landranger and Explorer mapping, the latter providing you the extra benefit of fences and walls being shown, better crag details, most paths on the ground even though they are not rights of way.
  
• National Trails. There is a separate title for each National Trail, for example The Coast to Coast, Offa's Dyke each having the 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 mapping as described above. We do not usually stock these but can order them for you upon request.
  
• GB in Thirds. There is a separate title for each third of Great Britain, each having 1:50,000 landranger mapping. These are great value, especially when purchased at the same time as an Oregon 300.
  
• All GB Discoverer products have... roads down to street name level for all of Great Britain so that Oregon series units can give turn by turn directions on the screen, i.e. direction arrows but not voice prompts. Included are Points of interest such as food and drink establishments, lodging, recreation, petrol stations, hospitals, banks, cashpoints and more. Post Code and street name searches can be made also. 1:250,000 mapping is also provided for route planning along the major roads and motorways. (For the individual national park titles the 1:250,000 mapping commences outside the park boundary. For the GB in Thirds titles the whole of GB is covered at this scale and is automatically switched to when the user zooms out to look at a larger area of land.)

Garmin Topo

Topo refers to the topographical maps created by Garmin for the United States, Canada and Great Britain in a variety of titles. Third party developers have created titles for other parts of the world. These titles can be displayed on Garmin mapping GPS units such as Vista HCX . The titles shown here include road mapping.

• Contour mapping with intervals down to 10m when zoomed in. This is derived from Ordnance Survey data
• Major streams, woodland, lakes and tarns are shown.
• Roads are included so that GPS units with routing capability can give turn by turn directions on the screen, i.e. direction arrows but not voice prompts.
• Points of interest include food and drink establishments, lodging, recreation, petrol stations, hospitals, banks, cashpoints and more.
• In the case of the Topo GB title you get a DVD. The data is downloaded to the GPS in sections termed Tiles by Garmin. A 2Gbyte card would be required to accept all the data at once.
• Some titles are available as pre-programmed cards so a connection to a PC is obviously not required. In most cases the micro SD card is located beneath the batteries in the battery compartment.
