Running waterproof jacket

The Ultimate Direction Ultra Jacket V2 takes the tried tested and best designed runners waterproof on the market - the Ultra Jacket and ups the levels of waterproofing and breathability. But why do we like it so much? Well most running brands make waterproof clothing that are designed to be light and packable and compromise too much on useful fit, features and fabrics. This is especially true of non-membraned waterproofs. Membraned options are usually more durable, more expensive and therefore will have better features, however, the Ultra Jacket V2 manages to nail the lot at a great weight, packsize, performance level and price.

Fit and features:
The main stand-out feature of this jacket is the Tunnel Effect Hood which has a large stiffened brim, which means driving rain is kept off your face and glasses much better without having to wear a baseball cap. The hood could catch the wind and be really annoying if it weren't for the mesh panel beneath the brim and rear of the hood which allows through flow of air for a non-drag fit with plenty of ventilation for improved comfort. For people coming from a British mountaineering background where good hoods are de rigueur this feature alone will recommend this jacket above all its competitors.
Under-arm vents provide air-flow and pump warm air out during natural arm motion but don't compromise on warmth loss greatly if you have to done the jacket in emergency situations.
Integrated FlipMitts stowaway so they don't annoy when not in use but can easily be flipped out to protect your hands from the wind or rain when you are on the go and pumping out heat.
Elasticated lower back to stop jacket flapping when worn alone and to help it fit smoothly under hydration vests and race belts, it also helps keep your kidneys warm and the jacket performing optimally as the fabric remains close to your body.
With a number of other easy to use, simple features and a huge 30,000mm hydrostatic head and 30,000 moisture vapour transmission rate which far outreaches any race requirement and almost all other jackets on the market of a similar weight and packsize this is the jacket to own.
Use the Ultimate Direction Ultra Jacket V2 for constant rain runs of up to 4 hours in duration and much longer runs where rain is likely to be intermittent or for only a part of the course.

Its awesome.

Rob Smith - Offa's Dyke In One Sitting - A new unsupported FKT

I set out from the official start (or end) of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail in Prestatyn with the intention of running (jogging, hiking and a lot of hobbling) – the 177 miles to the other end of the trail at Sedbury Cliffs, just outside Chepstow. I did finally get there, just over 3 days later, setting what is, for now, a fastest known time for a self-supported completion of the trail.
