Minimalist, lightweight climbing pack

The Patagonia Ascensionist Packs have been designed to be streamlined and ergonomic with fast ascents of multi-day routes in mind. This back pack has a completely minimalist design with no extra fuss - only featuring elements that will help you move fast and pack easily. It is also easily modified for comfort/minimalism when needed.

The integrated, asymmetrical collar opens wide and closes easily and securely in a single motion with a drawcord for easy access and fast packing. The shoulder straps with load lifters are ergonomic and match the contours of the torso for comfort when on the move all day. A good range of motion, needed for speedy ascents, is also possible due to the asymmetric profile allowing elbow clearance. The high-density foam back panel gives the pack structure and helps to support heavy loads, but can be easily removed for lightweight pursuits.

A hip-belt, with removable padding to give a simple webbing belt when needed, and sternum strap are also included to get the best fit when on the move whilst saving weight. Other features include fastenings and four rows of exterior daisy chains for securing your rope, helmet, axes and other gear and a small zippered pocket on the lid for quick access to small essentials. Compression straps on the sides to carry skis and cinch down loads are also useful features. The materials are lightweight and durable 210-denier Cordura® 86% nylon/14% polyester with a polyurethane coating and an extra foam layer at the base to prevent abrasion damage when you're packing up.

All these useful features on the 40L Ascensionist, and its little brother the Ascensionist 30L, make these packs ideal for your fast and light days in the mountains.

Have a look at some of the other features as explained by Kelly Cordes, Alpine and Rock Climbing Ambassador for Patagonia, in his Patagonia Ascensionist 40L review below:
