Whatever your outdoor pursuit, lighting will probably be important now and again. Petzl have lead the way in the realm of small-cell battery powered head torch innovation for decades now. Their headtorches cover a huge range of sizes, weights, powers and functions from the tiny emergency eLite, which is undoubtedly the finest headtorch you can use as a not-particularly-chunky keyring, to the Duo 14, which will light up features 100m away on its highest setting.
For general campsite use, backup lights and easy terrain night running, the lightweight, simple and very practical Tikka is our hands-down favourite. Runners and cyclists expecting rougher ground will want something with a few more beam settings and a longer reach, without sacrificing stability or adding too much weight. We recommend the Myo XP. The Tikka XP uses the same technology based on the lighter Tikka model. In both XP models there is a handy press-and-hold boost function. They are also great for climbers and mountaineers. Don't get benighted without one!
Cavers and industrial users will want to check out the Duo series. These have LEDs for close and mid-range work with long battery life, and a halogen bulb for when you need brightness. They also make an 'intrinsically safe' version for work in hazardous conditions- ask us if you want more info.
