Sea Kayaking Buoyancy Aid or Expedition Buoyancy Aid

The Palm Kaikoura buoyancy aid is a high specification buoyancy aid that is perfect for sea kayaking trips. It offers lots of adjustment and it is also very well loaded with features, it is also very easy to see how much attention was paid to all the fine detail during the design process.

Palm Equipment have developed the Kaikoura buoyancy aid to incorporate their 3 dimensional cut which enhances the fit of the buoyancy aid. The 3d cut starts at the base of the buoyancy aid with the 25mm waist belt. When putting the kaikoura onto the paddlers torso you need to secure the 25mm waist belt just below the rib cage and then tension it to a comfy level. You then can work up to the 38mm tension strap that is secured on each side, once this is adjusted you can then make the final adjustement to perfect the fit by securing the adjustable shoudler straps.

Carrying on the design and performance of the Kaikoura buoyancy aid, Palm Equipment created this from a preshaped flex formed foam to make sure that the garment fits in a more natural style and then in order to further enhance the comfort to the end user they also used a highly breathable mesh lining for greater levels of comfort.

The kaikoura is loaded with lots of features and this starts with the two main front pockets that are located on either side of the zip front access. Each pocket has a fleece lined handwarmer pocket behind it and then on the front of each pocket there is a further smaller pocket, both of which contain an anchor point for items such as car keys. Within the main pockets there is a d ring anchor point and then smaller mesh panels that are ideal for the storage of smaller items and also prevention of items falling out. The right hand pocket also has a small velcro secured opening that is desigend for the aerial of a VHF Radio such as the ICOM M23. On each of the shoulders there is then a small panel that has reflective detailing that gives enhanced visability at night. The right hand shoulder also featues another small pocket that includes another anchor point and also a whistle that is included. The left hand shoulder than has a lash tab that is perfect for securing a strobe light to. On the inside rear panel of the kaikoura there is then another pocket that is ideal for the storge of documents such as a passport, once again this is fitted with an anchor point. The final pocket is then located on the rear of the Kaikoura buoyancy aid and this has been designed for the storage of a hydration bladder. The drinks tube of the hydration system is able to be channeled through the flap so that it is easily guided over the left hand shoudler through the red shock cord loops to the correct area so it is easy to use while paddling.

Palm Aleutian (Surface Immersion Suit)

A drysuit that has been totally designed for the sport of sea kayaking. The Palm Aleutain drysuit is accessed by a rear zip that runs across the back of the shoudlers. There is also a second zip that runs horizontally across the crutch that is also ideal for that much needed toilet stop. The seals on garment are made of latex and these are located on both wrists and also the neck. The seals on the feet are in the form of fabric socks. The majority of the suit is manufactured in a high vis yellow but on the shoulders, peak of the hood and also on the arms there is a mixture of reflective piping and reflective paneling. The elbows, knees and also the seat of the suit are then reinfiorced with a 300D cordura. To make sure that a good seal is achieved with your spraydeck there is also a double waist.

Palm Alaska

A high specification cag that is ideal for Sea Kayaking. It is also perfect for other aspects of the sport such as open Canadian canoeing. The Palm Alaska is packed with lots of features! The Cag is an over the head style that features a double waist to work in conjunction with a spray deck. It then incorporates a twin wrist system that features inner latex wrists for a good seal and an adjustable outer seal for comfort. On the neck there is an adjustable internal neck seal. The outer layer of the neck seal is a large zipped system that also incorporates the large hood and the fleeced lined collar that will make it snug and warm for paddling on cold days. The neck seal offers easy access for the head via a diagonal neck zip. Also on the collar is the mouth guard that features laser cut holes for ventilation The Alaska offers several options for storage and the first is a kangaroo pocket on the chest. But when being used as a waterproof top on an expedition this is ideal for keeping your hands warm also. There is further storage on the upper arms as there are two small pockets, one on each arm. The Cag is then finished in a highly visible Saffron colour and on the upper arms and across the back of the shoulders there is reflective detailing for night time paddling.

The P & H Delphin is a plastic sea kayak that is available in two different sizes and specifications. It is very different from many of the traditional boats on the market due to the position of the cockpit and the height of the rear deck. The Delphin generally comes with a large rear, a small foredeck and then a large front storage hatch. The boat is fully rigged front and rear with decklines and also deck elastics.
