Buoyancy Aid for Kayaking or White Water Rafting PFD

The Peak UK River Runner is a great white water rafting PFD. With a design heritage that dates back to the London 2012 Olympic Games. This River Runner features the same Olympic Gold Medal winning cut that was also present in the Slalom Kayak PFDs that were worn by the GB Canoe Slalom Team.

Peak UK designed the River Runner to have a high performance style that gives great freedom of movement. This PFD is easily put on over the head. Once in position on the torso, there is a three stage adjustment. The first set of adjustment is a set of waist straps, the second is from the hidden set of side compression straps. These really help to contour the PFD to the torso for a secure and firm fit. The final adjustment is achieved via the shoulder straps. Peak UK has designed the River Runner to utilise the most up to date 'single strap' technology in the shoulder straps. This ensures a totally fail safe option. Each shoulder strap is integrated into the waistband and features a continuous webbing strap. This means that  if a buckle was to fail when being loaded, the PFD can still be lifted.

The River Runner has been packed with lots of great specification. Firstly there are four front pockets. The main pocket has plenty of space and also features additional mesh storage pouches and a number of anchor mounting points. There are then two further pockets, which are mirror imaged and are located on each side of the main pocket. Once again these are a good size and include more securing points to attach things to. The final pocket is located just below the main pocket and is ideal for a river rescue knife. While designed as a PFD for whitewater kayaking, this does not feature or include a chest harness. However it does have the facility to take one easily. Once fitted it could be set up for either right handed and left handed paddlers. In the event that you do want to use and store a cow tail and carabiner, there are two small plastic d rings, these are designed for clipping a kayaking carabiner to. These plastic d rings are designed to be easy to quick release and as so, they feature a small split. This makes it easy to enable you to release the carabiner from the d ring with a small firm tug.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.
