Sea Kayaking PFD or PFD for Sea Kayaking

The Peak UK Explorer Zip is a PFD for Sea kayaking. It features the same Olympic Gold Cut that was used by the London 2012 Olympic Team.

Peak UK has designed the Explorer Zip to have very clean design lines and to also be very neat and compact. However they have still managed to incorporate 4 front pockets and a rear hydration pocket. The PFD is easily put on and taken off via the front access zip. It features a 25mm base buckle and set of adjustment to keep it sat in the correct position on the torso. There is then a further set of side compression straps that are neatly concealed by the neoprene side panels. The final adjustment is achieved via the adjustable shoulder straps; the shoulder pads then neatly conceal this.

The four front pockets on the explorer PFD are located with two either side of the front zip. The main pockets are accessed via a zip from above and these incorporate a mesh divider so you can easily find stuff in there. They also contain an anchor pint to prevent things from falling out. There are then two further pockets, again one each side of the front zip and there are accessed by a vertical zip. These are ideal for a VHF Radio and maybe a kayak flare. Once again these also contain another set of anchor points. The pockets also feature sewn in drainage holes to prevent a build up of water. In the event of the PFD being used for evening time paddling trips there is an amount of reflective detailing that helps to make the paddler more visible.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.
