Kayaking Mitts or Open Palm Kayak Gloves

The Yak Equipment Open Palm Mitts are great for cold weather winter kayaking where you want good levels of protection and warmth while still being able to get a secure grip on your kayak paddle shaft.

Yak has designed these open palm kayaking mitts to enable the fingers and thumb to be easily released, this is great when you need to do some urgent swift water rescue. These neoprene paddle mitts then remain on your wrists and this helps to prevent against loss. Open palm mitts offer slightly greater levels of warmth in general over traditional kayak gloves as the fingers are not separated and they keep each other warm! The front of the gloves then features a small piece of stitching, this helps to keep the tip of your index finger in the paddle mitts. It also prevents your fingers falling out of the open palm.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.
