There are a few different factors to consider when buying a spraydeck. The first, as always, is fit. It's usually easy to guess your size, but what about your boat? If you need help finding the right deck size, give us a call and we'll make some suggestions!

If you're looking for a deck for centre use, NKE provide us with a very basic nylon Centre Deck aimed at group users, where the deck must fit a range of waists and cockpits.

For beginner paddlers, fit can be a little more relaxed, which means you'll be able to get it on and off the boat more easily and it'll be very easy to pull in the event of a capsize. Nylon decks are great if you use several different boats and the Palm Elterwater/Ullswater range make a good allround choice,  but the seals on this aren't as good or as comfy as a full neoprene spraydeck.

Surf kayaks tend to have smaller cockpit sizes than regular general purpose river or touring craft, and there are a number of decks in the for these boats in the beach category, including the super stetchy Nookie Surf Skirt.

Our favourite mid-range choices for river paddling are the Standard Deck from Peak UK and the Playboater Shock Deck. Features like latex undersides will make the fit tighter, and experienced paddlers should look for these, as well as dry lips and reinforced edges. The Playboater Work Deck is an excellent hard-wearer and the deck of choice for Up and Under staff. If you have a Pyranha boat and want a top of the range deck, look no further than the Angry Fish.

Sea paddlers will want a look at the Touring Decks from Delta and Playboater and Venture Kayaks, with both Nylon and Neoprene options available. A favourite for many is the Peak UK standard deck, as mentioned above.
