Watersports Equipment Rope 25m Canyon Palm
25m Canyon

A ‘bank rescue’ throw bag using the clean line principle. Highly adaptable incorporating an easy to handle floating rope. Using a detachable floating rope.

After careful selection and endless hours on river banks, we have come up with a comprehensive range of rescue kit. There are throwlines ranging from 7 to 25m, pulleys, saws, cowstails and towlines to deal quickly and efficiently with most circumstances. Rescue knives can be found in their own section.

Palm, HF Equipment and Nookie all provide us with throwbags.

The starting range of throwbags that are suitable for bank to swimmer use begins with the 7m Nookie flip line. For use where you need a greater length of rope we recommend the Mini Throwbag (15m) or Personal Throwbag (20m) from Nookie, or a Palm React 12m or React 18m.

The HF Weasel (18m) is a handy ball sized bag with thin rope, while the Compact Alpine has a wide neck with handles to make repacking much easier. Using it in conjunction with the HF Swifty Belt makes it readily available for that urgent moment.

For throwbags that will be submitted to greater levels of use, maybe hauling a boat from a swollen river we suggest that you should look at the Palm Alpine (20m). Paddlers who are travelling to foriegn destinations where the rivers are faster and wider should contemplate the Palm 25m Canyon.

Utility Belts

We've got a choice of utility belts from HF Equipment and Palm. The HF Swifty Belt offers an easy solution for a throwbag that can be worn on the waist. While the Palm Zambezi also offers the same, it additionly offers a built in towline.

Tow Lines

Our range of towlines is supplied by Palm, Nookie, Peak UK and Valley. The Nookie Waist Towline is ideal for flat river paddling, while Palm offer two options for use on rivers, the Palm 3m React Towline is a basic entry level line that is ideal for flat water, with the Palm 3m River Pro being more suited towards white water paddling as it has a stronger karabiner. The Palm range is then completed by their 10m Ocean Pro Towline with a 10m length of floating line that makes it ideal for Sea Kayaking. Peak UK give 2 offerings in the towing department - the 5m River (cheap for its lenght) and the 15m Sea (deck or waist mount). Valley also provide several towlines for sea kayaking and they come in either waist mounted or a deck mounted style.

Bits and Pieces

There are several useful pieces of gear in the rescue & safety gear section that are worth a mention. Palm produce a chest harness that is ideal to go with the Symbiant W/W Buoyancy Aid, also we have a tubular safety tape, white water karabiners, and cow tails. For Sea and Touring we also supply a range of Scotty paddling lights which are well worth a look as they offer a good degree of safety for paddling at night, with other lighting options being those from Navisafe, or Petzl Headlamps in the Outdoor Portal.

Don't forget, the most important pieces of safety gear you can have are a good quality, well fitted Helmet and a Buoyancy Aid.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.

January Staff Newsletter

January saw us starting to get into the swing of things again. A little snow saw many of the team in the Beacons, as well as further afield with trips to the Peak District, Cheddar Gorge and Pembrokeshire all squeezed in. New Years day allowed few of us to get out (even if the weather wasn't great in South Wales) but a number were in still Snowdonia and elsewhere where it was a little nicer.
