River Running Kayak or White Water Kayak

The Pyranha Karnali Connect River is a mid specificiation white water kayak that is ideal for paddling up to grade three white water. It is available in two sizes of either medium or large. The medium sized Karnali is suitable for paddlers in the 60 - 110Kg weight range while the large karnali is ideal for paddlers in the 80 - 130 kg weight range. If you're looking for a top end spec in the Karnali range, then the Karnali C4S provides the best  adjustablity available.

Pyranha have developed the Karnali Connect River for intermediate kayakers who are looking to progress their white water skills. The rounded hull is very forgiving and the high volume styling of the rest of the boat makes it buoyant and easy to paddle. The Connect River version of the Karnali features front and rear grab handles, front and rear security bars, a rapid style back band, thigh braces, a large shaped seat and a bulkhead footrest. In the event of a capsize, you can empty the water through the rear drain plug.

Up and Under also supplies a wide range of kit that will compliment the Pyranha Karnali, the top item on the list is the Pyranha Grumpy deck, and then you may also wantto look at a set of airbags such as the Pyranha Creek Airbags so that in the event of a capsize your boat is easy to recover. You will then also need to conside a kayak paddle and some of the faverite suggestions here are the TNP Rapa Glass or the Streamlyte Trickstix.

In addtion to the hardwear you will then also need to look at some kayaking clothing combinations. For this we would suggest a buoyancy aid such as the Peak UK River Vest, a longjohn wetsuit such as the Palm Allround Longjohn and a canoe cag such as the Palm Vertigo or the Yak Force

There are also alternative white water kayaks that you could look at and some of top options that sit along side the Karnali are thePyranha Z.One, the Dagger GT Action or the GTX Action.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.
