Recreational Crossover Kayak

The Dagger Katana River is the perfect kayak for those wanting a kayak for good whitewater as well as gentle touring. It is available in two different sizes for the near perfect fit and is a great boat to paddle. For a more basic version of the Katana River, have a look at the Katana E, which has a less high spec outfitting. For club use the Katana Club is a good choice too.

Dagger has designed the Katana River as highly versatile recreational kayak that will go anywhere and do anything, It is ideal for gentle river exploration, easy white-water kayaking and on a nice calm day its also great for some gentle coastal kayaking.

The Katana is available in two sizes, the 9.7 and also the 10.4. The Katana 9.7 is suitable for the majority of paddlers and is capable of carrying up to 102Kg while the Katana 10.4 is the ideal kayak for the large paddler and will carry up to 136Kg.

The Katana River comes with the Contour Ergo outfitting. This includes the Contour seat, with contour seat pad and hip pads. The seat also includes a leg lifter to help you get a fuller contact with the fittings. The Creek outfitting also has a step out pillar in case you get into difficulty, and a volume adjustable footrest.. The contour backpad has ratchet adjustments, allowing easy entry into the cockpit, but a tight fit once in.

The rear of the kayak had a foam bulkhead and this creates a large area for storage, which is easily accessed via the Oval Domed kayak hatch that clips on and off. The other main feature of the Katana River is the rear drop down skeg; this really does help to assist with the tracking of the kayak. Other features of the Katana River are the front and rear grab handles, left hand side drain plug for the main cockpit area and also the rear security bat that is located just behind the cockpit.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.
