16ft Open Canoe or White Water Canadian Canoe

The Silverbirch Broadland 16 comes in at just under 16 foot and is a great lightweight open canoe. This open canadian canoe is very versatile, whether you want to paddle on a lake, a canal of your local whitewater river. The Broadland 16 will do it!

Silverbirch Canoes offer the Broadland 16 to be available in two main types of construction. The more basic option is the Duracore specification, while the second option which is more advanced is the Duralite construction. Silverbirch Duralite leads the market in performance! The Broadland Duralite is then available in either a standard finish or a high line. The high line will give a slightly drier ride while whitewater paddling.

More about Silverbirch Duralite - The Silverbirch Duralite construction is the premier 3 layer plastic used in their open canoe range. It is blended from the highest grade of high density polyethylene, this is featured on the outer later and also the inner layer. These two layers then sandwich a low density foam core, this foam core has also optimized by Silverbirch to get the best possible results. When all of this is blended together it give a stiffer, lighter and more durable open canoe. This end results, especially when finished with an ash trim come very close in weight to composite models from alternative brands.

The outer layer of the Duralite construction is available in several main colour ways, check out the options above on the drop down menu. The standard inner layer is then an off white which is finished with a colour "fleck" which matches the colour on the outside of the shell.

The team at Silverbirch Canoes believe very highly that every open boater has a different set of requirements. With this in mind there are many other custom options available.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.

January Staff Newsletter

January saw us starting to get into the swing of things again. A little snow saw many of the team in the Beacons, as well as further afield with trips to the Peak District, Cheddar Gorge and Pembrokeshire all squeezed in. New Years day allowed few of us to get out (even if the weather wasn't great in South Wales) but a number were in still Snowdonia and elsewhere where it was a little nicer.
