Foam Core Kayak Paddle or Bent Shaft Sea Kayak Paddle

The Werner Athena crank is a foam core kayak paddle that has design features that are well-suited towards paddlers with a low angle paddling technique.

Werner has designed the Athena as a bent shaft sea kayak paddle. It features small sized blades that are well suits for a low angle paddling style. The construction of the Athena kayak paddle is full carbon composite. The blades feature a foam core and these are then wrapped in carob, the foam core makes them light and buoyant in the water while the carbon gives them added stiffness to give greater more efficient power. The two piece carbon paddle shaft is highly adjustable this is down to it being fitted with the Werner smart view ferrule system. This kayak joint kit; not only splits a paddle in two but it also gives the option to change the leading hand from right to left. In order then to allow for use in different weather conditions, you can alter the angle of feather to a number of different angles which include 0, 15, 30, 45 and also 60 degrees. Finally, the paddle is fitted with kayak drip guards, this helps to prevent the water from running down the shaft and getting your hands wet.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.

January Staff Newsletter

January saw us starting to get into the swing of things again. A little snow saw many of the team in the Beacons, as well as further afield with trips to the Peak District, Cheddar Gorge and Pembrokeshire all squeezed in. New Years day allowed few of us to get out (even if the weather wasn't great in South Wales) but a number were in still Snowdonia and elsewhere where it was a little nicer.
