Plastic Sea Kayak

The P & H Scorpio is plastic sea kayak that is ideal for kayaking expeditions. It features lots of storage with two front hatches and two rear hatches. There is also a place to mount your Silva 70P compass.

P & H have designed the Scorpio MKII as an evolution of the original Scorpio sea kayak. The Scorpio is an expedition sea kayak that is available in two different sizes. It is made from a three layer laminate called CoreLite X, a stiffer and light version of the tradition Corelite 3 layer plastic they have used for some time.

P & H
have made the Scorpio sea kayak very feature rich. The first offering is a great deck design that incorporates a full array of kayak deck elastics. Amongst them are four kayak storage hatches. There is a 24cm round hatch at the bow, a smaller 15cm hatch is then located just in front of the cockpit (this is perfect for keeping things close to hand). The rear of the kayak then features a smaller 20cm day hatch immediately behind the cockpit and a larger 42cm x 30cm hatch on the mid-section of the back deck.

Further features of the P & H Scorpio include a mounting point for a Silva 70P compass, adjacent to this is a flattened section that has a number of moulded in receivers. These are ideal for the mounting of the code zero kayak sail system. The Scorpio then comes with two control systems. You can either opt for a traditional drop down kayak skeg or you can go for the more advanced Skudder system. The P & H Skudder is a combination between a kayak skeg and also a kayak rudder, so you get the best of both worlds!

The Scorpio features a long keel line that gives good directional stability, the mid-section of the body features a slight v shape which helps to give a nice smooth ride. The front of the boat is nicely flared so it will lift through a wave while the rear deck of the kayak is nice and low which makes for easy rolling.
