Sea Touring Kayak or Beginners Sea Kayak

The Venture Jura is a great beginners sea kayak, it has been designed to be user friendly for the entry level paddler and as their paddling skills develop the boat will grow and develop with them also.

Venture Kayaks has designed the Jura sea kayak to come in two size options; Medium volume for paddlers up to 110kg and the high volume for paddlers up to 124kg. The boat features a long water line so it’s fast and efficient when paddling. It has a large easy access cockpit that is fitted with a Pyranha connect seating system; this then incorporates an adjustable ratchet kayak backrest that is controlled from the thigh braces. The deck profile of this great touring kayak features a 24cm front bow hatch, a 42cm x 30cm rear hatch and then a 20cm day hatch. The deck then has a full set of deck lines which also incorporate a paddle park.

The Jura kayak comes with two control options, you can either have it fitted with a standard kayak skeg which is simple and effective, this simply deploys up and down. The second option is the Venture Kayaks Skudder system. The Skudder deploys up and down in the same manner as a skeg, however due to it being connected to the adjustable footrests it also has the option to work as a kayak rudder to help steer and turn the kayak with ease.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.
