P & H designed the
Cetus for
expedition kayaking. In order to meet these
tough demands it has several levels of composite construction. There is also an
accessories list that is detailed in the "
Custom Build" section of
our website. The
Cetus features a long waterline that gives great forward speed;
this is then enhanced by the
retractable kayak skeg that is located in the back
of the
kayak. This is easily deployed and retracted by a slider mechanism that
is then located on the side of the
kayak adjacent to the
cockpit. While out on
extended
kayaking trips, in order to store all of your
expedition gear the
Cetus has been
fitted with a four
kayak hatch configuration. There are two hatches on the front
and a further two located on the rear. The front for most hatch features a 24cm
and the second front hatch which is located in front of the cockpit is a day
pod, this has a 15cm diameter. The rear of the kayak than incorporates a further
two hatches, immediately behind the cockpit is a 20cm day hatch and then at the
rear of the
kayak there is a large oval hatch which measure 42cm x 30cm. In
order to maintain the options for carrying plenty of kit, the
Cetus kayak also
features a full array of
kayak deck lines. Each end of the
kayak then is fitted
with
grab handles which help to make it easy when man handling the kayak to the water’s
edge. The cockpit of the
Cetus features a comfy padded seat unit this also incorporates
a padded backrest to give support, further support and comfort is then achieved
by the adjustable pedal footrest.
The
P & H Cetus is also a
sea kayak that is suitable for the addition of a
kayak
sailing rig. This is best fitted at the time of production; as you can then
have the front skeg fitted also. A
kayak sailing rig is perfect for use on longer
kayak expeditions. Why paddle when you can have a go at
kayak sailing!?
