Tandem Sit On Top Kayak or Two Person Sit On Kayak

The Ocean Kayak Malibu Two is a tandem sit on top kayak that will seat between one and three people up to about 193Kg in weight. It is a great family kayak and it's perfect for exploring your local coastline and gentle river trips.

For a larger version of this boat, have a look at the Ocean Kayak Malibu Two XL.

Ocean Kayak have designed the Malibu Two around their self bailing cockpit system, this means that in the event of a capsize you can simply turn the sit on top kayak back over and climb back on. However if you do wish to stay dry it is very easy to add a set of Scupper Stoppers and this will prevent water from coming up through the scupper holes.

The Malibu Two is packed with many more features and the first of those is the moulded in multi seat arrangement. It has 3 moulded in seats and this makes it ideal for between 1 and 3 paddlers. It can be paddled by a solo paddler, two paddlers or if needed even a trio of paddlers, however there is a maximum carrying load capacity of 192.8kg. With all the various paddling combinations there are a few things to think about. If two adults are paddling it, put the larger adult in the rear seat. If you then decide to add a child, place the child in the centre seat. If you paddle it solo you would then also use the centre seat.

It then includes three sets of moulded in kayak footrests, which will give the paddlers support and comfort. Further support and comfort is achieved by using kayak backrests. There is also a reasonable amount of storage for a kayak dry bag on the front and rear of the kayak, if required; you can also add extra storage. This is easily done by cutting out part of the shell and simply adding an Ocean Kayak Gaspachi Hatch.

The sit on top kayak also features front, rear and side mounted carry handles. These make it really easy to get the kayak to and from the waters edge. The self-draining scupper holes also ensure that the kayak can be used with a kayak portage trolley such as the Eckla Sit on Top Trolley.

February Staff Newsletter

February was a busy month in the shop. As well as a number of reps coming to see us, and a number of visits to make, we also attended the Run, Walk, Crawl Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, and hosted a climbing shoe demo with Tenaya at local bouldering wall Spot Climbing. We still managed to get out, and members of Team Up and Under could be found in many parts of the UK; including in the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes, South Downs, Scotland, as well as further afield in Chamonix and George L still in Thailand.
