What makes a sit on top great? Stability! And if you do fall off you can turn it back over and clamber straight back on. There is no cockpit get stuck in or fill with water. Single, double and triple versions are available, as are specific models for surf, touring, fishing and general purpose use. They are easy to learn on and enormous fun.

Kayaks, canoes and sit on tops that are especially designed for fishing and angling can be found in our special Fishing Kayaks section, but most sit on tops are suitable for a bit of fishing. Craft designed especially for surfing live in the Surf Ski and Surf Kayak section of our website (take a look at the Watersports Catalogue too). Boats with foot pedals and small motors, including sit on tops, can be found in the Touring and Recreaction Kayaks section. There are some nice easy paddling kayaks there too.

Our range of sit on tops is huge, so we will list just a few of our favourites to get you started. There are plenty more choices though!

For children and smaller adults paddling solo we recommend the Islander Hula and Wilderness Systems Ripper for general use. These are both versatile, forgiving, and a bit lighter than some of the larger boats, so will be easier to handle for smaller people. The Ocean Kayak Venus is designed especially for women, and most men will want something with a bit more carrying capacity, like the extremely popular Feel Free Nomad or Wilderness Systems Tarpon 100.

Couples and families wanting to paddle together should look at two and three seater boats like the Islander Paradise 2, Wilderness Systems Tarpon 130T, Feel Free Gemini, and Ocean Kayak Malibu.
