ADVICE ON BOAT SELECTION

What makes a boat better for sea kayaking? They are longer than touring kayaks for greater speed, must deal effectively with wave action and wind, and often have a drop skeg for enhanced tracking.

We stock a range of one and two person sea kayaks ranging from basic and simple Valley Aquanaut Club which is housed on the Club, School and Group Kayak page, to the well featured personal use plastic boats like the Dagger Cortez, to the highly sophisticated and customisable P & H Capella.

The choices from Dagger and Necky will suit most users, but everyone should take the time to admire the premium ranges from P & H and Valley even if they aren' t planning serious ocean or expedition paddling.

For safety, we recommend all sea kayakers carry a bilge pump, and we carry a range of paddle floats in inflatable, solid foam, and self-inflating styles. Silva produce a range of compasses especially for sea navigation, and elsewhere in tha catalogue, we have a selection of Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
